How Not to Look Fast Fashion

How Not to Look Fast Fashion

Flip through this totally serious ( and not at all satirical) guide for how to NOT look fast fashion

Using Communication Design tools like typography, illustration, graphic design, advertising, and packaging design, we present to you How Not to Look Fast Fashion.

The goal: increase the chances that someone will learn about fast fashioniztion through humorous design. The website is a fun and colorful data visualization to get the word about fast fashionization out there.

The Zine? A more fun and sarcastic version of that.

Design Analysis

Color Choices

This zine uses the same color palette as the rest of the Fast Fashionization website. We chose this for its bright, eye-catching colors with a slightly more profound meaning. While orange and yellow are bright and colorful, they statistically make people more anxious, alert, and aware. Green and blue are obvious choices when making an environmental commentary, but did you know green is the color of life and that while blue is calming, it can also be perceived as cold and distant?

The Illustrations

The original illustrations were hand drawn and then recreated digitally. Some examples combine clean and chic fashion with messy, junky, and colorful clothing. The clothing is cast about and piled up like garbage to insinuate a more significant issue.

Typography

We wanted to keep things nice and neat for the website and the zine. This increases legibility and readability but also nods to the examined brands' crisp, clean sustainability pages. We tried to keep things simple because when we were doing our research, we found too many brands using too many words to deter you from reading further about what they are (or aren’t) doing.

Is this an actual book?

Yes, and no. We have a physical version, but this one is much more accessible and sustainable. Feel free to download the images and print them out if you want your own. We won’t stop you.
